Currently a WIP. Everybody gotta use they're imagination for the art my bad.
Created sometime in 2018, this version of Alex doesn't have much documentation. Here, he was a grave robber who went under the moniker "G" and wore a mask to conceal his identity. During this time, he had an unnamed twin sister who would assist in these crimes but she was quickly scrapped and only appeared in one drawing, if my memory serves me right. His hair is done in 6 braids, 3 on each side with what looks like needle accessories coming from his hair. His mask resembles a generic white mask that can be found anywhere. Like many of the early concepts, this version doesn't have a color scheme and is purely guessed. The only thing I'm sure of when it comes to his color scheme is that his hair was black and the "necklace" is red.
A bit later, Prototype 2 Raymond would help G get these bones by killing and cannibalizing people. There isn't much about their relationship during this time.
*I believe this is important to add but Donna, Monique, Alex, Raymond, Francis, and Lily were created roughly around the same time. The majority of them did not retain the same names and all look drastically different from what they do now. These designs were done back to back and were supposed to be sketchbook characters. This statement obviously doesn't apply anymore.
I'm categorizing this as being a distinct era instead of treating it as a transitional period for G, even though that's what it is. During this time, the graverobbing profession was dropped but not much was done with him. He still retains the mask and outfit but it was changed to being festival wear.
His hairstyle, mask, and outfit would get a slight redesign. Instead of the needle accessories coming from the bottom of his hair, it would be stuck into the top part of his hair. The mask would receive eyelashes and have a different eye shape as well with more defined lips. The shirt would end up being more like a thick sweater but the rest of the outfit would remain the same. He also would gain a more casual outfit that he wears outside of the festival wear that appears from time to time during this period.
There is also a possibility that some of the drawings of G during this time may have been the first version of him, more specifically of him without his mask. This does not negate the importance of this iteration.
Prototype 3 is where things get interesting, in my opinion. As a throwback to his previous profession, he takes care of plants and has a large majority of them. In this phase, the nickname was given a proper backstory: it was his favorite letter as a child and this nickname stuck. His shoulder length hair would be changed to brown knee length hair, based on a teacher I had whose hair was close to that length. In the early stages of this transformation, he had the mask but this was ditched since it didn't make a lot of sense for him to conceal his face. The scar was changed to a birthmark and to emphasize this, I made his right eyebrow thinner in sections to show it better. G is also revealed to be gay and from the start is dating Raymond. During this time, Alexander and Raymond met at a house party and was draggeed there by Camilla. He is very shy but extraverted, dealt with body dysphoria and was a bit feminine in presentation. Along with this, Camilla is his childhood best friend that he's known since he was 7 years old. He is also shown to be thin and mostly wears sweaters.
During this time, he was 16 1/2, 5'5 (165 cm) and was revealed to have been born on April 2nd. Since I didn't want his name to be G anymore, I changed his name to be Damon. Damon as a name wouldn't last very long since it is incredibly close to Raymond. After asking a friend what his name should be changed to, we chose Alexander or Alex for short. Fun fact: he was almost called Elliot.
Not much changed in his story at this point. He became less shy than his previous incarnation and was written to be Raymond's roommate before becoming his boyfriend. At this time, his full name was Alexander Weber.
At some point, his hair went from being knee length to being down to his tailbone to make drawing him easier. I also made him fat during this time since I felt that my male characters looked the same physically and I wanted him to read as being Camilla's friend more if that makes sense. His clothing style would change a bit too with the feminine aspect transformed into being more androgynous in presentation.
Around this time as well, he had a scrapped ability being that he could communicate with people via dreams. It was meant to mirror equilibrium except he had to be asleep to be able to see this. A bit of this would be implemented in the most current iteration as him being clairvoyant.
During this time, Alexander became a Doyley, more specifically a scrapped ethnic group called a Sun's Doyley. Sun's Doyleys were Doyleys that had the outward appearance of a Human but had the physical capabilities and dietary needs of a Doyley. Along with worshipping Donghola (Timpani), they also worshipped the sun. This was scrapped in favor of making Alexander a Doyley, which also coincided with Alexander becoming half Black. To me, it made more sense to change this since I wanted him to be a Doyley. He also got changed because I kept drawing his features wrong and it was inevitable. With this change, his straight hair became curly, around 2c and 3a.
He also was meant to also be an experiment in the same vein as Raymond. In this iteration, he was experimented on as a child to further advance his clairvoyance to give accurate predictions of the future. This was scrapped so that two completely different characters didn't have similar backstories. I am willing to revisit this in the future.
The most recent version. Alexander was dropped to just being Alex and like many of the characters, he doesn't have a middlename. Due to his last name being written incorrectly, he became Alex Webber and it stuck. Instead of being shy and extraverted, he became timid and leans more as being introverted. His 2c-3a hair became 4b instead and is closer in length to the last iteration while still taking into account of shrinkage. Coinciding with this change, I decided to make him fully Black because that Midas Touch is strong. His birthmark changed from being thunder shaped to being a lack of pigmentation on his right eye since it was getting a bit difficult to draw it. In this area, some of his lashes are blond with no eyebrow hair in parts where the birthmark can be seen.
His fashion has changed quite a bit as well since his style became more laid back, mostly wearing comical shirts. His favorite is the "this is the skin of a killer bella" shirt with a sparkly picture of Robert Pattinson. He has never seen Twilight before. He also wears more patterns in his wardrobe and typically goes for overalls.
He still takes care of plants and it ties back to his original concept since he literally feeds his plants sometimes.
